NET1 basketball: common questions

How do portable basketball systems stay stable? The base is filled with water or sand — typically 100 to 150 litres — which anchors the unit. Sand gives more weight and better stability; water is easier to fill and drain but should be treated with antifreeze in winter.

What ring height should I set for children? Regulation is 3.05m (10ft). For under-10s, set the ring around 2.6m; for under-8s, around 2.3m. Adjustable systems let you raise the ring as the player grows, which is why they suit family use.

Can a portable system be left outdoors? Yes. NET1 systems use weather-resistant poles and backboards. In exposed positions, lowering the backboard in high winds and keeping the base fully filled is recommended.
