Frequently Asked Questions

What type of weight bench do I need for a home gym? 🏡

A bench’s capacity should cover:

• Your bodyweight

• The maximum weight you plan to lift

For most home users, 150–200kg total capacity is sufficient. Heavier lifters should consider higher-rated benches.

The Hit Fitness SB30 fits this use case well, offering 6 incline positions while keeping a small footprint suited to spare rooms or garages.

Is an adjustable bench better than a flat bench? 🤔

An adjustable bench offers more exercise variety, including:

• Incline and shoulder presses

• Seated dumbbell movements

• Core and accessory exercises

The SB30 adjusts through 6 angles:

  • 0°, 20°, 35°, 50°, 70°, and 85°

This allows both flat pressing and near-upright shoulder movements, which a fixed flat bench cannot support.

How much weight should a weight bench support? ⚖️

A bench should support your bodyweight plus the maximum load you plan to lift.

For most home users, 150–200kg total capacity is suitable.

The SB30 is rated to 150kg total, making it appropriate for light-to-moderate dumbbell and barbell training at home.

Does the weight capacity include the user’s bodyweight? 🧍

Yes. Bench weight capacity includes:

• The user

• Any dumbbells or barbells being lifted

This is a common misunderstanding and an important safety consideration.

What incline angles should a good adjustable bench have? 📐

A versatile adjustable bench typically offers:

• Flat (0°)

• At least 2–3 incline angles

•An upright or near-upright position (70°–90°)

More angles allow finer muscle targeting and improved comfort.

The SB30 offers 6 backrest angles from flat to 85°, plus a seat incline at 15° and 35° for better posture during incline presses.

Can I use a weight bench with dumbbells only? 🏋️

Absolutely. Many users train exclusively with dumbbells using:

• Flat and incline presses

• Rows and flyes

• Seated shoulder work

The SB30 is well suited to dumbbell-only workouts, supporting exercises such as presses, flyes, rows, curls, and seated shoulder work within its 150kg capacity.

Can I bench press with a barbell on any bench? 🚫

No. Barbell bench pressing should only be done inside a rack or with safety arms.

The SB30 can be used with barbells when positioned inside a power rack, squat rack or half rack, but it is not designed for heavy barbell lifting on its own.

How much space does a weight bench need? 📏

Most adjustable benches require around 2m x 1.5m of usable space for safe movement.

The SB30 has a compact footprint of 112cm x 35cm, making it suitable for smaller home gym layouts while still allowing comfortable training room.

Is a lighter bench less stable? ⚠️

Lighter benches are easier to move and store, but can still be suitable for moderate weights.

At 12kg, the SB30 prioritises portability and space efficiency, making it ideal for home use.

What material is best for weight bench upholstery? 🪑

Synthetic leather (PU or PVC) is common because it:

• Is easy to clean

• Resists sweat and wear

• Offers good grip during pressing movements

The SB30 uses synthetic leather upholstery with padded support for comfort during pressing and seated exercises.

Do I need a bench with a leg holder or decline function? 🤷

Decline features are useful for some core exercises but aren’t essential for most users.

The SB30 focuses on flat-to-incline training, which covers the majority of chest, shoulder, and dumbbell exercises performed in home gyms.

Can a weight bench be stored easily? 📦

Benches that are lightweight and slim are easier to store in multipurpose spaces.

The SB30’s compact frame and low weight make it easy to move, reposition, or store when not in use.

What equipment pairs best with a weight bench? 🔗

Most benches pair well with:

• Adjustable dumbbells

• Power racks or half racks

• Olympic or standard barbells (within limits)

The SB30 is commonly paired with adjustable dumbbells or a home power rack for a complete beginner-friendly setup.

How long should a home weight bench last? 🛠️

With normal home use and proper care, a quality bench should last several years.

The SB30 includes a 1-year home-use warranty, aligning with its intended use as a value-focused home bench.
