BackBaller makes a foam roller with a specific design goal: two rollers set on a fixed axle with a gap in the middle, so the spine sits in the channel and the pressure lands on the muscle either side of it rather than on the vertebrae.

At McSport Ireland we stock the BackBaller range for athletes, physiotherapists and desk-bound users who find a standard round roller uncomfortable or ineffective on the back.

  • BackBaller Double Foam Roller — the original twin-roller design, also available in pink
  • MuscleBaller — a conventional foam roller for quads, glutes, calves and lats
  • The Hog Back Stretcher — passive spinal extension for lower back mobility
  • Mobility and recovery — combine with massage balls, sticks and bands

BackBaller: common questions

How is BackBaller different from a normal foam roller? A standard cylindrical roller presses directly on the spinous processes as you roll your back. BackBaller's twin-roller design leaves a central channel for the spine, so pressure is applied to the erector spinae muscles either side instead — more comfortable and more targeted.

How long should I foam roll for? 30 to 60 seconds per muscle group is the common recommendation, moving slowly and pausing on tender points. Rolling is most useful before training for mobility and after training for perceived recovery.

Can I use it for the IT band and quads? The MuscleBaller is the better tool for limbs. BackBaller is purpose-built for the back and the muscles flanking the spine.
