Unicorn is one of the two dominant names in professional darts, founded in London in 1937. Its Eclipse Pro board has been the official PDC World Championship dartboard, and Unicorn darts and flights are used across the professional tour.

Unicorn darts: common questions

What is the correct dartboard height and throwing distance? The bullseye sits 1.73m (5ft 8in) from the floor, and the oche is 2.37m (7ft 9.25in) measured horizontally from the face of the board. A dart mat with a printed oche removes the guesswork.

What is a bristle dartboard made from? Compressed sisal fibre. The fibres part when a dart lands and close again when it is removed, so the board self-heals rather than accumulating holes like paper or cork.

Unicorn or Winmau — which board is better? Both are professional standard. Unicorn's Eclipse Pro range and Winmau's Blade series use different thin-wire spider designs; both reduce bounce-outs and increase scoring area. Choice usually comes down to preference and price.
